This (14C) is a wonderful new knot and produces the nearest thing to a 100-per-cent loop knot that there is! (It tests 99 per cent.) Make about 15 turns with your right fingers, rotating them around the left hand. Roll the loop up tighter with the forefinger and thumb of your left hand while spreading the loop with your two right-hand fingers which are within the loop (14D). 14D This allows the end to twist back on the loop. 14E Then make a half hitch on the near side of the loop (14E); and make another half hitch on the far side (14F). 14F Then, to finish off the knot, slip the front of the knot back ever so slightly to prevent shearing the knot at the front. Pull up, and trim the end. Test it, and you'll find the line usually parts before the knot breaks. Could anything be better?
