Figure 13. Six feet from the end of your 3-pound test platyl line (you'll come down to 2) tie a blood knot, leaving one eight-inch end (13A). To this knot attach your well-hackled dry fly with a Turle knot. Then, to the end of the line attach your quarter-filled plastic bubble, threading the line through both holes and coming back once, for strength's sake, because those ear holes aren't very strong, and tie a jam knot. To get a natural deep-running float with your lure, thread the line through the tiny ear hole but do not tie it, and your line will bubble. To prevent the free-running bubble from working out to the lure, attach a swivel (13B) to the casting line, and fasten the leader to that with bait or hook. To keep the bubble from walking up the line, tie a string, wherever desired, with a series of half hitched, which will permit the knot to slip through the guides while casting.
