Fresh and Salt Water Spinning

I've purposely saved trolling, also a method of lure retrieving in sweet and salt water, for the last. Exceedingly exciting times can be had by trolling with a light spinning outfit in slow-moving river, lake or salt water. Also, it can be a good way of discovering where the fish are, by working different levels. Streamer flies can be particularly good. The spinning reel is ideal for this. Simply set the anti-reverse and hang on. Run one streamer fly out in the wash of the boat, up fairly close, not more than 30 feet away. Better mark your line with a red thread. The water action and the flash of your propeller seem to attract the big ones. Hint: Why not keep your prop blades polished? Then have your partner work a second fly just off the wake, 40 feet behind the boat. Attracted by the wake, the fish may follow the first fly some distance. Then, turning from that, he often sees the second fly, and man, how his strike will make your rod jump!
