Fresh and Salt Water Spinning

Depending upon fishing conditions, the following list will give the spinman a fairly well-rounded selection: * Small spinners from 1/16 to 1/10 ounces with light impact for shallow water * Small wobblers, same weight, for the same purpose * Small thin-bladed wobbling spoons, ounce, for swift or deep water * Heavy-bladed wobbling spoons, ounce, for swift or deep water * Surface minnows, about ounce, for surface action * Weighted bucktails or jigs, about 3/8 ounce, for salt-water * Selection of dry and wet flies for bubble fishing * Selection of weighted optic flies and bass flies * Light plugs and jointes lures from 1/8 to 3/8 ounce for all-around fishing. Naturally, few spinmen will fish enough water to warrant getting this full battery of fish-killing lures and the angler should eliminate those which are not appropriate to his water, yet he must be aware of a besetting danger which afflicts most anglers: the inclination to confine themselves to lures whose action and purpose is nearly the same. In addition to reel, rod, lines and lures, the spinman's accessories are comparatively few. He should have snaps to attach lures to line quickly, swivels and rudders to eliminate line twist, short wire leaders for sharp-toothed fish, plastic bubbles, extra hooks of various sizes, weights, assorted leader material, a small hook sharpener, a blade-polishing cloth, and oil for swivels, they function much better when oiled.
